For our November Metalsmithing Challenge, we set out to create a piece of jewelry or an object using three or more symbols — and wow, did this one bring out the magic.
There’s something special that happens when you start working with meaning in this way. Snakes, stars, eyes, hearts, wings, moons… once you start pulling from that well, the ideas seem to tumble out. And watching everyone follow their own threads, trust their instincts, and let those symbols guide the design was honestly the best part of the month.
These challenges always remind me why we do this in the first place: to stay curious, to keep our hands moving, and to make space for the pieces that come from someplace a little deeper. November did not disappoint.
If you’d like to participate, there’s always room at the table next month.
