Ep 107: Dawna Gillespie - Perseverance, Patience, & Believing in Your Work
Dawna Gillespie’s path as a jewelry artist is one of persistence, patience, and learning to trust her own timing. After discovering metalsmithing in her final semester at Texas Tech, she eventually found her way back to the bench and began building a body of work rooted deeply in her own story.
In this conversation, Dawna shares how she developed such a distinct artistic voice, why every adornment she creates is intentionally one of a kind, and what draws her to the warmth and natural aging of copper and brass. We also talk about rejection, comparison, trusting the process, and continuing to put your work forward even when the answer isn’t yes the first time.
It’s a conversation about staying open, staying persistent, and believing that your path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to be meaningful.
